1 lb (2 cups) real good quality butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup sliced almonds
10 flat Hershey Bars (unwrapped and ready to go)
1 1/2 cup chopped almonds
In a large heavy frying pan cook sugar and butter together
on high heat, stirring constantly until the mixture turns a tan or light brown color. Quickly stir in sliced almonds and pour on to cookie sheet and spread evenly.
Place Hershey bars on top, spread as soon as the candy melts. Sprinkle with chopped almonds and press into chocolate. Let set over night.
Break into small pieces.

Use a metal pancake turner to stir butter and sugar vs a spoon. this allow to get in The edges of the pan.
Warm the cookie sheet in the oven at 150 to 170 while cooking sugar and butter.
Start butter and sugar together on high heat cutting butter with spatula. It should be all melter together at about 4 min, keep stirring.
Light boil in about 5 min. Keep stirring. I move the pan on the burner if the mixture starts to scorch on one side so that area is not over direct heat.
Keep stirring until mixture turns a light golden brown about the color of a brown shopping bag apx 9min from star.
All 1/2 cup of nuts, keep stirring and take the pan out of the oven.
At about 10 min pour mixture unto the pan and then just follow the instructions.
Makes about 3 lbs of wonderful toffee.
Hint: Takes about 9minets from turning on heat to pouring onto the pan or 285 degree F.
